Casey Wells serves as the TxDOT Advance Transportation Planning Section Director. He has been with TxDOT since 2017, where he currently serves as the Advance Transportation Planning Section Director. He oversees the teams responsible for Statewide Planning, Regional and MPO Planning and Coordination, and the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). Key projects these teams work on include Connecting Texas 2050 (TxDOT’s Long Range Transportation Plan), Statewide Transportation Resilience Plan and PROTECT funding, Carbon Reduction Strategy and Program funding, MPO programs, Statewide and Regional Travel Demand Modeling, and the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). Prior to his time in Advance Transportation Planning, he was part of TPP’s Freight Planning Branch where he led the Freight Network Technology and Operations Plan, Permian Basin Regional Freight Plan, and Rio Grande Valley Regional Freight Plan. Prior to his employment with TxDOT, Casey was a planner at the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, where he began his career in 2008, following graduation from the University of Kentucky.
